وجرت مراسم تسليم الوسام بحضور سمو الشيخ سلطان بن أحمد بن سلطان القاسمي، نائب حاكم الشارقة، حيث سلّم لورينزو فانارا، سفير الجمهورية الإيطالية لدى دولة الإمارات، الوسام لسموها نيابةً عن الرئيس الإيطالي.

ويُعد وسام الاستحقاق للجمهورية الإيطالية، الذي تأسس عام 1951، أرفع وسام وطني في إيطاليا، ويُمنح للشخصيات التي قدمت إسهامات بارزة في مجالات الأدب والفنون والتعليم والخدمة العامة والعمل الإنساني.

وأكد السفير الإيطالي أن منح الوسام لسمو الشيخة بدور القاسمي يأتي تقديرًا لدورها في ترسيخ التعاون الثقافي بين البلدين، خصوصًا من خلال دعمها للأدب الإيطالي وتعزيز حضوره في المنطقة، إضافة إلى جهودها في دعم مشاريع ثقافية وتعليمية في إيطاليا.

وقالت سمو الشيخة بدور القاسمي إن الكتاب "لا ينقل المعرفة فقط، بل يبني جسورًا بين البشر، ويقرب بين الثقافات"، مؤكدة أن هذا التكريم يمثل حافزًا لمواصلة تعزيز الحوار الثقافي بين العالمين العربي والإيطالي، وتوسيع آفاق التبادل الأدبي والمعرفي بين الشعبين.

ويأتي التكريم تتويجًا لمسيرة طويلة من المبادرات التي قادتها سموها في مجالات النشر والتعليم وتعزيز القراءة، من خلال رئاسة هيئة الشارقة للكتاب، ورئاسة الجامعة الأمريكية في الشارقة، وتأسيس عدد من المؤسسات والمبادرات الثقافية، إلى جانب دورها كرئيسة سابقة للاتحاد الدولي للناشرين، كأول امرأة عربية تتولى هذا المنصب منذ تأسيس الاتحاد عام 1896.
